Ascend Tax Solutions ("we," "us," or "our") prepares individual and small-business tax returns. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We are subject to federal rules that govern how tax preparers use and disclose taxpayer information, including Internal Revenue Code Section 7216.
Information we collect
- Contact information: your name, phone number, email address, and mailing address.
- Tax information: Social Security numbers, dates of birth, income documents (such as W-2s and 1099s), expense records, prior-year returns, and bank account details for refunds or payments, provided by you so we can prepare your return.
- Website information: basic technical data, such as browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site working.
How we use your information
- To prepare, review, and file your tax returns.
- To communicate with you about your return, including document requests, appointment reminders, and status updates by email, phone, or text message.
- To send seasonal updates about our tax services, where you have agreed to receive them.
- To meet our legal and recordkeeping obligations.
We do not use or disclose your tax return information for any purpose other than preparing your return unless you give us separate written consent, as required by federal law.
Text messaging (SMS)
If you opt in to text messages, we use your mobile number to send messages about your account and tax return, and promotional messages only if you separately agreed to them. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for help.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except service providers that deliver messages on our behalf.
Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed for the site to work, such as keeping forms functioning, and to understand basic site usage, such as which pages are visited. We do not use cookies to sell your information. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With the IRS and state tax agencies when filing your return.
- With service providers that help us operate, such as tax software, secure document storage, and our messaging platform, who may use it only to provide those services.

How we protect information
We maintain a written information security plan. Uploaded documents are encrypted, access is limited to the people preparing your return, and our accounts are protected with multi-factor authentication. We keep tax records for the period required by law and then securely delete them.
Your choices
You can opt out of text messages by replying STOP, unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email, and ask us to update or delete your contact information, subject to our legal recordkeeping requirements.
